Where: Via Battista De Rolandi 14
Cut it Out! is a 3-hour intensive workshop designed for those who already feel comfortable on the wheel and want to work in a more technical, focused, and intentional way.
This is not the kind of class you join just to bring home finished pieces. It is a space to really train, focus on throwing, push your limits a little further, and better understand what happens while you work.
During the workshop, you will work on forms, proportions, wall thickness, and clay control through exercises designed to help you improve centering, pulling walls, and making larger or more complex pieces.
At the end, the pieces will be cut open and observed together: a very useful step to clearly read mistakes, progress, and areas for improvement in a way that is often impossible when looking only at the finished form.
All tools and materials are included.
The clay used during the workshop is included and, once the pieces have been cut, it will be recycled by the studio. Only if a piece truly deserves a pardon, you may ask to save it and have it fired by paying for its weight.
The workshop takes place every other Saturday afternoon, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm, in small groups of up to 6 people, so everyone can work properly and receive attention throughout the session.
An intermediate or advanced level is required: to join, you should already be able to center at least 500 g of clay on the wheel.
Book your spot.
In this 3-hour workshop, you will learn advanced techniques for centering amounts of clay you may not have dared to approach yet, along with methods for compressing walls and throwing larger pieces, or techniques for shaping long, narrow necks.
It is a workshop designed to refine your technique and help you work through the sticking points that are holding you back.
All tools, materials, and clay are provided by the studio, but if you have your favorite tools, feel free to bring them.
All pieces will be cut open to better understand where there is room for improvement, but if you happen to make a masterpiece, you can ask for it to be spared.
How many pieces will we make?
As many as you want, one after the other, non-stop. We only pause for an aperitivo ;)
Do I have to pay for the clay?
Absolutely not. All pieces will be cut open, and the clay will be recycled. Only if you want to save a piece from the chopping block will you pay for its weight: €3 per kg.
What level of experience is required?
You should already be able to center at least 500 g of clay on the wheel.
Can I give the workshop as a gift?
Of course, but it is better to purchase a “workshop” gift card so the recipient can choose their preferred date.
How can I pay?
Bank transfer, credit card, or PayPal.
