Spin the Bottle – Intermediate Pottery Wheel Course

A three-lesson journey for potters who already feel at home on the wheel and want to push past their technical limits. Inspired by the expertise of internationally renowned ceramicist Eric Thuta, this course teaches you how to throw larger forms and bottles with slender, well-proportioned necks.

Dates and focus

• Friday 20 – Lesson 1: Advanced throwing
  Learn to centre and shape tall, complex forms, mastering the opening and raising of the bottle’s body with precision.

• Friday 27 – Lesson 2: Trimming and functional/decorative details
  Refine the base and add unique elements such as handles, spouts, or decorative accents.

• Friday 4 – Lesson 3: Glazing and form enhancement
  Experiment with glazes to reveal curves, volumes, and surfaces, bringing out each bottle’s character.
